My New School
I am now into my 3rd week at school and its alright. I’m in form 1 (which is year 7 at home) and the forms go through from form 1 to form 6. We have six periods and so one period equals 50 minutes in a classroom. My classes are Science, Social Sciences (which is history and geography), Maths, English, PE, Moral Education, Art and ICT. We don’t just have one teacher like at home, we have to go to one room with that teacher in it. I usually play with Jonathan and Alani. On the 1st day of school we had to write what we wanted to achieve in the year. I said I wanted to fit in, I think I’ve done that.

Daniel
So good to hear from you and to find out how school is working out for you. I am pleased you sense you have achieved fitting in. It is no easy thing to go to a new school and a new country at the same time.

Hi Daniel
Great to see you are continuing blogging.
Quite a change having all those different teachers.
When thinking about fitting in to a new school in a new country what were your biggest challenges and what have you learnt about yourself?
Daniel:
Enjoyed reading about your Tongan subjects and your new friends.
(Perhaps you could introduce J and A to blogging!)
It does seem to me that the school is very traditional.
I was wondering: What place might music have in the curriculum? What about drama and the theatre?
Also I would like to know a bit more about Moral Education.
Hi Daniel, I wouldn’t have done this otherwise, but what does ICT stand for? Daniel
Hi Daniel. ICT stands for Informaton Computer Technology. We go to the computer lab to do it.
I hope to learn a lot more about Tongan technology: low, high and everything in between.
What is the computer lab like?
(How many computers are there to a student?)
Daniel
Here I am trying to avoid bad grammar!! Like Adelaide I would love to know whether you prefer going to a lab or having computers on hand in the classroom. Or perhaps you have both?
Miss T
We wouldn’t be able to fit computers in the classroom, so the computer lab is the only choice.
The computer lab is a good choice, I think, especially as it’s all networked.
(Wonders if it’s just for the first form, or do the senior students use it as well)?
I like to have computers on hand at home, and I imagine many of the students might as well.
(I wonder if there are many computers outside the high school/college?)
Hi Daniel. It sounds like you’re enjoying school over in Tonga. The other day at assembly, Mr Elms showed two of my videos on the overhead projector. Please comment on my blog and ask a question. Only 2 comments untill I reach 200 comments. Hear from you later!
